Imagine a warm summer evening, twilight skies, a fragrant breeze. You are comfortably seated within the ivy-draped courtyard of a Spanish Mission-style villa as music swells and stars twinkle in the growing darkness.
Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood is partnering with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra to host a summer chamber music series, bringing the above musical dreamscape to life. The series debuts on July 10, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. with a pair of string quartets performing several masterworks of string chamber music. The full schedule is as follows:

Now in its 32nd season, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is in residence at Lincoln-Way North Performing Arts Center in Frankfort, Illinois. As the Chicago Southland’s largest performing arts organization, the IPO’s nine concert subscription season and numerous education programs serve audiences from Joliet to Northwest Indiana and Chicago to Kankakee. Musicians of the orchestra come from a four state region including Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The IPO has remained dedicated to its mission of increasing community appreciation of the musical performing arts. Summer Music at Ravisloe is the most recent of these efforts.
The orchestra has received several coveted awards. The Illinois Council of Orchestras named Maestro DeLeone “Illinois Music Director of the Year” in 1995, and recently acknowledged the IPO as the “2010 Professional Orchestra of the Year,” a distinction the orchestra also received in 1992.
“Ravisloe is an extraordinary venue just steps off of the Metra Electric line. I can think of no better location for this sort of summer music series,” said IPO Executive Director Edmund Feingold. “I know that the Village of Homewood is excited by this news, and with such visionary partners, we certainly have our eyes on the future. Summer Music can only grow from here.”
“I am delighted that Ravisloe has the opportunity to bring the enchanting music of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra to Homewood,” said Claude Gendreau, who opened the Club to the public in the spring of 2009. “A summer music series serves our vision of offering this beautiful place for the enjoyment of the greater community.” Weather permitting, all concerts will take place outdoors with the exception of the July 10th event, which will be held in Ravisloe’s great hall adjacent to the courtyard. Acoustics for the hall and the courtyard are outstanding, according to Edmund Feingold, the IPO’s executive director.
